Second story application can be a little trick for the DIY homeowner. But for a well seasoned PorchPro, it is really a snap.
.
First: You have to decide if your are going to try to make the second story application water tight. If now, you can follow the standard first story installation instructions. If you want to reduce the amount of water than can flow between the boards in heavy rain, you can use 100% silicone in between each board. This will stop the water to the level of detail that is followed.
Second: If you are going to make the application water tight, make sure you use a rubber membrane that is self sealing for when you penetrate it to fasten down your cross sleepers (16″OC). It is not recommended to install Aeratis directly on top of a rubber membrane. These membranes typically expand and contract and it is best practice to use sleepers on top of the membrane.
Next: Install Aeratis with the desired fastening method. If you are using a nailer, use stainless steel L or T head nails. If you are using flooring stapler, use 2″ 1/2″crown 15 1/2 gauge stainless steel flooring staples and if you are using screws use GRK #8 x 2″ stainless steel or coated trim-head composite screws.
Finally: Trim the the edges and remove protective film and clean the surface.
Make sure you read complete installation instructions before installing Aeratis.

Installing Aeratis in a remodeling or restoration application is really a snap.
First: Make sure to replace any questionable joist or rotting wood. You want to make sure all of your framing is brought up to local building codes (16″ OC) with the proper slop away from the house. Make sure your framing follows good lines. IMPORTANT: Aeratis will follow your framing closely, so any low spots or high spots may show depending on the severity of the imperfection in the framing.
Second: Fasten Aeratis to the joist with either a pneumatic nailer, pneumatic flooring stapler or screw gun.
Forth: Finish off your porch with trim pieces.
Finally: Remove protective film and clean the porch for use.

Installing Aeratis in a new construction application is a snap.
First: Make sure, before framing, you allow for the proper slope. We recommend 1/4″ per foot to help wind blown rain run off the porch and not pond.
Second: Install all joist at 16″ on center
Third: Make sure you have proper supports under your structural columns or posts.
Forth: Choose your favorite flooring installation tool (pneumatic nailer, pneumatic flooring stapler or screw gun). Fasten Aeratis to the joist. Keep in mind, if you damage the tongue when installing with a screw gun, your angle is too steep. Lower the head of the screw slightly and keep going. Add the trim to finish it off.
Finally: Remove protective film and enjoy your beautiful new porch.
Aeratis installs with the same tools and methods as the wood flooring your are used to installing, with out the maintenance. Make sure you read the complete installation instructions before installing.

Aeratis can be installed over concrete to bring your porch back to the look of a traditional tongue and groove porch floor.
Installing over concrete is much like installing over a joist system. First, before you begin, read the installation instructions completely. Aeratis is installed with the same installation method as wood but there are key items that will help reduce headaches and maintenance in years to come.
First: Measure the height of our threshold. This will determine the height of your cross sleeper system.
Second: Anchor the 2×4′s directly to the concrete slab or through the rubber membrane covering the slab 16″ OC.
Finally: Fasten Aeratis to the 2×4 sleepers as if they were a floor joist.
Make a note to add vents. This will help any moisture escape and will help keep your 2×4′s dry.
