A porch is not a deck, although many exterior flooring manufacturers would have you think otherwise. The construction of a porch requires a unique set of considerations which, if not properly accounted for in the composition and design of the flooring, can cause significant long-term and even some major short-term problems for homeowners.

This educational series is designed to help builders, installers, and consumers become more informed of the unique characteristics of a porch floor and the potential problems that can come from using the wrong materials.

In this series you will see how a variety of products measure up under real life challenges - REAL challenges, that make a difference to real product performance. In this series, you won’t see harsh chemicals being defined as ketchup and mustard, and you won’t see merit being given for how close to the edge you can screw in a fastener. Our objective is to address issues that make a difference to the integrity and longevity of your porch.
